What you download runs on your machine and sends us nothing. What runs as a hosted service necessarily processes what you give it, under its own policy. This page says which is which.
This policy applies to grndtech.com and to everything published under the grndtech name — the tools you download, the products that run as a hosted service, and anything released after them.
These products do not all handle data the same way, and a single promise covering all of them would be untrue of some. So this page states the position for each kind. Where a product publishes its own privacy policy, that policy governs that product — our hosted products do, on their own sites — and this page is the umbrella that covers whatever it is silent on.
Every tool we publish for you to run yourself runs entirely on your machine. Your statements, spreadsheets, drawings, documents, databases and generated files stay in the folder you put them in. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
There is no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting, no licence check and no update ping. Where such a tool has a browser interface it binds to 127.0.0.1 and talks only to the process running beside it; some run from a double-clicked file with no server at all. Where one reads documents or images, it does that work on-device rather than sending them to a cloud service.
Because none of it reaches us, we hold no data from your use of these tools — there is nothing for us to lose, sell, hand over or delete. Each repository ships a PRIVACY.md with the specifics for that tool, including the deny-by-default .gitignore rules that keep your records from being committed by accident.
This is a standing commitment, not a description of how things happen to be today. If we ever publish a downloadable tool that sends data off your machine, its page on this site will say so plainly, and say what is sent, before you install it.
One caveat worth stating: if you point an AI coding assistant at a folder, that assistant reads what you show it. That boundary is yours to set, not ours.
Some of our products run as a service on their own domain rather than on your machine — you sign in, and you give them work material to act on: schedules, spreadsheets, field data, photographs, documents. A hosted product necessarily receives and processes what you upload to it; that is what makes it work, and the local-first promise above does not and cannot apply to it. Producing its output can involve AI processing.
What each of those services stores, for how long, who processes it, and how you get it back or have it deleted is set out in that product's own privacy policy, on that product's own site. That policy governs your data there — read it before you upload client material. It is linked from the product itself, and each product is listed on our Build page.
Where such a policy is silent, this page applies: we do not sell your data, we do not use the material you upload to market to you, and you can write to us at any time to ask what is held and to have it deleted.
Your email, if you subscribe. The newsletter form sends your address to Beehiiv, which hosts the list and sends the emails, along with which page you subscribed from. We use it to send occasional updates about new tools, posts and courses — nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or pass it to anyone beyond Beehiiv.
Analytics. The site loads Google Analytics 4, which records page views and coarse, aggregated information about visits — approximate region, referrer, device type. We use it to see which writing is worth continuing. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and analytics data is never joined to the newsletter list.
Payments, if you donate or buy. Payment links hand you to Stripe's own checkout. Stripe processes the payment under its own privacy policy and sends us a record of it. We never see or store your card details.
This site sets no advertising cookies and runs no tracking beyond the analytics described above. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Submitting the newsletter form is your consent to receive those emails. Every email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately — you never need to ask us or give a reason.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted outright. Write to [email protected] and we will action it; for a hosted product, the route in its own policy is faster. We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion; payment records are kept as long as Canadian tax and corporate record-keeping rules require.
Beehiiv, Google, Stripe and our host, Microsoft Azure, may process this data outside Canada — in the United States in particular — under their own terms.
Questions about any of this, or a request to see or delete your data: [email protected]. See also our terms of use.
